Video Installation
The landscape can be overwhelming. Many times, I've been lost for words, moved to tears, and in complete awe of its sheer beauty and power. It’s a reminder that nature is so much bigger than us—us humans are tiny in the grand scheme of things.
I spend a lot of my time in and around the ocean, both in Cornwall and the Arctic. The contrast between the serene coastlines here and the stark, frozen expanses of the High Arctic is striking, yet both landscapes share a raw beauty that continues to inspire my work.
To convey the magnitude of the Arctic environment, I’ve turned to video and film installation. These mediums help immerse the viewer in the vast, icy landscapes I’ve encountered. From the jagged glaciers of Svalbard to the shifting sea ice, Iv found video installation offers a dynamic way to engage with the landscape, showing its beauty and fragility in real-time.
Through imagery and sound, the viewer doesn’t just see the scene—they are transported into the experience. Walking around and through an installation allows a viewer to feel as if they’re standing within the landscape.. It brings the distant, frozen world of the Arctic closer, inviting the viewer to connect with its scale, power, and quiet vulnerability in an immersive way.
